What this part is
The cap seals the printhead nozzles when the carriage is parked and forms the chamber the pump draws against during cleaning. Keeping that seal tight stops the ink drying in the nozzles overnight; a cracked or hardened cap wastes ink and cleaning cycles every day.
This part is used on the Mimaki JV3 solvent sign-and-display series built around an on-demand piezo printhead.
