What this part is
The linear encoder scale is the fine-marked strip that runs the width of the printer; a sensor on the carriage reads it to know exactly where the head is at every instant, which is how each ink drop lands in the right place. A scratched or dirty strip causes misregistration, vertical banding and encoder errors.
This part is used on the Mimaki UJF series compact UV-LED flatbeds, used for direct-to-object printing on items like promotional goods, panels and packaging samples.
