Epson has announced several new printheads alongside a new willingness to partner with OEMs in both graphics and industrial printing. Duncan Ferguson, executive director for Epson's Professional Printing and Robotics division in Europe. The new heads include the S3200, which Epson itself has used but is only now making available to OEMs. At its heart is a PrecisionCore MicroTFP (Thin Film Piezo) chip, which has two rows of 400 nozzles, 800 in total, at a rate of 600 nozzles per inch on a 33.8mm line. Epson has introduced two new textile printers, with a new, higher volume direct-to-garment printer, the SC-F3000 and the latest addition to its wide format series in the shape of the SC-F9400, which includes a variation that takes fluorescent inks. Epson has developed this SureColor F3000 direct to garment printer for mid-volume users. The SureColor F3000 builds on Epson’s existing desktop DtG printers but is a much bigger, more industrial machine aimed at mid/large garment production businesses and t-shirt suppliers, and as such should be seen as a direct competitor to Ricoh’s Ri6000.
